Our long-time client and friend Kevin Wood recently received a Queen’s Birthday honour, being made a Member (AM) in the General Division of the Order of Australia, for significant service to recreational sailing.
Kevin has made an enormous contribution at all levels of sailing. On the world stage Kevin was involved with World Sailing (formerly the International Sailing Federation) as a Yachting Australia delegate and World Sailing Championships Director in the 1990’s and 2000’s.
For Yachting Victoria Kevin has been Chair, Deputy Chair and Director of numerous regattas, races and committees as well as founding various events and competitions. At Sandringham Yacht Club where he has been a member since 1984 and was made a life member in 2004, Kevin has been Commodore, Vice Commodore, committee member, event organiser and competitor.
In addition to these significant achievements in support of his sailing passion, Kevin has also made a significant contribution to the Hospitality and Tourism Industry through his ownership of the commercial catering equipment business he founded in 1979.
Since the 1980’s, for various periods, Kevin has held roles with the National Association of Foodservice Equipment Suppliers, the Catering Institute of Australia, the Institute of Hospitality in Healthcare and the Victorian Hospitality and Tourism Board.
He has also been a generous benefactor to The Alfred Foundation, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Wesley Mission, Christina Noble Underprivileged Children’s Fund and R U Ok.
Kevin’s AM award is wonderful recognition of his contribution to society and we extend our heartiest congratulations.
